Roadside Attractions

Went out for a couple hours today. If you ride down the road between starlight and the zoo (both situated in Swope Park), then look over the zoo parking lot, you will notice a monument. What is this mysterious monument. most of the year it's obscured by the trees, but during winter it's a lot more noticable.

Ahhhh Found it. The first thing you will thing is, It sure looked a lot bigger from the Zoo Parking Lot.

-
It's a monument to Thomas Swope, hence Swope Park.

-
The view from top the steps of the monument. My camera can't quite catch . . . OK my camera can't capture the view . . . at all. You have to see it yourself.

-
The stairs leading back up.

-
Every once in a while on the road I find . . . Jewels from the road . . . going down 87th I passed up this ratchet. first I thought, ah POS ratchet drive, I'll just let it go, but then I thought, I have a POS drive, and I might need a POS, to backup my POS. Upon closer inspection it's a Craftsman. Yes, now were talk'n. 1/4" but a Craftsman none-the-less.
