The Run

Yes it might shock you all. I went to see how fast I could run a mile. Back in my high school days I used to run a bit of cross country. I say "a bit" because it often clashed with BMX racing. I remember my mile splits were around 5:30 for a 5 k (3.1 miles). I haven't run in a long time, so I decides to limits the run to a mile to see how the body reacts. My 1/4 splits are as follows.
-
1) 1:54.8/130 hr ave,
2) 1:47.6 /150 hr ave,
3) 1:46.7/ 158 hr ave,
4) 1:35.8 / 166 hr ave.
-
For a total of 7:05 / 150hr ave. It's safe to say I could have gone under 7 Minutes, and I'll even go further out on the limb to say I could have gotten close to 6 minute base on my last lap. We will see. For the next cyclocross season I'm going to condition my body to do a little running . . . this should be a hoot.
